The Orthodox Christian Church is the original church established by Jesus Christ. It is evangelical, but not Protestant. It is orthodox, but not Jewish. It is catholic, but not Roman. It isn’t non-denominational, it is pre-denominational. It has believed, taught, preserved, defended and died for the Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost nearly 2,000 years ago.

What started as a small Orthodox Mission in 1999 has become, by God’s grace, a flourishing Parish, in which everyone is welcomed! We have come a long way and are excited about our future in Traverse City. We are here to serve, witness and share God’s love story with our local community.
The structure of an Orthodox Parish is very well defined. We are under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America and Metropolis of Detroit. At Parish level, we have the clergy, assisted by the Parish Council, as well as the various ministries. All decisions are sanctioned and blessed by the community, the Body of Christ and by our spiritual leaders.
Even though the size of our congregations is limiting to the available ministries, we continue to extend the work of Christ through various lay-led ministries: community garden, outreach, ladies and men ministry. Everyone is invited to participate in the work of the Church!
Saturdays: Vespers at 5 p.m. Sundays: Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. Matins: 9 a.m.

The visitor to an Orthodox church is usually impressed by the unique features and the external differences between this place of worship and those of the various traditions of Western Christianity. The rich color, distinctive iconography and beauty of the interior of an Orthodox church are in sharp contrast to what one often finds in many Roman Catholic and Protestant churches.
