Jack Staron, former teacher, middle school administrator, and university instructor, was Chrismated by Father Ciprian on April 11, 2015. His Nuno (Godfather) was John Psaros, an instrumental and admired role model for Jack as he became more drawn into becoming a baptized member of our church. Even before his Chrismation, Jack quickly involved himself in ways to help our church. For example, he manned the parking lot at St. Francis to greet customers, take orders, and collect ticket fees during the Taste of Greece fund raiser. He thoroughly enjoys this job, sees it as a great way to promote AOGOC and has done it for the past four years.
During the month of December 2016, Jack was asked to fill a vacancy of our Parish Council, and on December 12, 2016 after reciting his oath of office, he was sworn in as a Parish Council member. Since taking of office, he has worked with other council members to organize events for laying of our corner stone on church property on April 22. Jack and his team helped ready church property for this activity; moreover, he involved other church members in developing and implementing a successful parking plan. Jack is now a member of our Parish Building Committee, is researching charges other churches have for use of their facility, and is currently heading up a drive to enlist help needed for six committees essential to achieving an excellent “Opening Day Ribbon Cutting Ceremony” scheduled for June of this year. His wife is Vicki J. (Annas) Staron. They have three children and six grandchildren.
